Climate Change – A Game Changer in International Security Policy?

YATA Germany and Hanns Seidel foundation present:

Climate Change – A Game Changer in International Security Policy?
May 4th 2021, 19:00 – 20:00 CEST // 17:00 – 18:00 Z

On the occasion of the recently held world leaders’ climate summit, we want to discuss the implications of climate / environmental changes on security politics and vice versa. The seriousness and importance of the topic is obvious; the biggest threat for the global population over the next century will be the ecological decline, simply because it’s so fundamental. In shorter timeframes however, other risk factors weigh in more heavily and have to be dealt with rather urgently.

In order to shed light on the complexity of these problems local, regional and global, we are more than happy to welcome two experts of both sides of the Atlantic to our discussion.

Margaret Jackson is the deputy director for climate and advanced energy in the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center.

Sebastian Leuschner serves in the section for climate policy in the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Moderator, Leo Simon, is member of YATA Germany’s executive board and Digital Communications Manager at the Munich Security Conference.

We are looking forward to an interesting evening, welcoming YATAs from all national chapters, our friends of the young transatlantic initiative and many more.
