PESCO and its potential for more efficient defence spending

17 Mai, 2018

Berlin, 28 May 2018, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

INVITATIONPanel Discussion

A new Permanent Structured Cooperation – PESCO – has been recently initiated which aims to deepen defence and security cooperation among EU member states. Given the constantly changing security environment in the 21st century, this agreement is a key step to further integrate and strengthen defence cooperation between member states within the EU framework. The agreement does not only aim at maximizing the effectiveness of defence spending but also offers an opportunity to enhance the EU’s capacity as an international security partner. However what impact will PESCO really have on European security and defence policy and cooperation? To what extent does it have the potential to increase the effectiveness of defence spending? We cordially invite you to join our Czech and German defence and security experts in discussing these and other questions regarding the EU’s new Permanent Structured Cooperation. This panel discussion is part of our NATO Talk around the Brandenburger Tor-series and is organized in cooperation with our Czech partner organisation Jagello 2000 and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Berlin.
