Friedrich Opitz ist Associate Fellow am Zentrum für Klima und Außenpolitik der DGAP. Er ist außerdem Dozent für Internationale Politik und transatlantische Beziehungen an der TU Dresden, promoviert an der Universität Leipzig und leitet im Rahmen des Industrial Heartland Project eine Arbeitsgruppe für Klima, Arbeit und Innovation. Zuvor war er Programmdirektor am Deutsch-Amerikanischen Institut Sachsen (DAIS) und Visiting Researcher an der University of Wisconsin. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen auf dem vergleichenden Strukturwandel in Ostdeutschland und im Mittleren Westen der USA sowie auf der Zeitenwende.

Friedrich Opitz is an Associate Fellow at the Center for Climate and Foreign Policy at the DGAP. He is also a lecturer in international politics and transatlantic relations at TU Dresden, is pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Leipzig, and leads a working group on climate, labour and innovation as part of the Industrial Heartland Project. Previously, he was programme director at the German-American Institute of Saxony (DAIS) and a visiting researcher at the University of Wisconsin. His research focuses on comparative structural change in eastern Germany and the U.S. Midwest, as well as the “Zeitenwende”.
