In the past three years, Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine dominated the European and transatlantic security agenda . NATO, once again, became indispensable for our common security. NATO countries rallied around the NATO flag. NATO even welcomed Finland and Sweden in its ranks, dealing a strategic blow to Russian Neo-Imperialism. Now with Washington D.C. setting sails with a new Trump administration, many wonder: What does Trump 2.0 mean for NATO , Europe and Germany? Will the United States move from nurturing regional alliances to global deal-making? How do experts assess the implications for NATO and its most vulnerable members along the eastern flank? What is the role and responsibility of Germany in the new geopolitical reality? What institutional reforms could help Germany fulfill its obligations towards NATO partners and to fill its strategic role in Europe? And what economic underpinnings are necessary to allow Germany to step up and rise to these complex challenges? These and other questions will be addressed by a distinguished panel at Prinz-Carl-Palais on the eve of the Munich Security Conference 2025.
