NATO
NATO is the world's most successful security alliance, guaranteeing its member states peace, stability and security based on freedom, democracy and the rule of law for over 70 years. Security in our daily lives is the key to our well-being. NATO's goal is to ensure the freedom and security of its members through political and military means. NATO promotes democratic values and enables its members to consult and cooperate on defense and security issues in order to solve problems, build trust, and prevent conflict in the long term. NATO is committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes. When diplomatic efforts fail, it has the military means to conduct crisis management operations. These are conducted under the collective defense clause of NATO's founding treaty - Article 5 of the Washington Treaty - or under a United Nations mandate, alone or in cooperation with other nations and international organizations.

NATO Talk History
In 2008, German Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel and NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer opened the first "NATO Talk" of the German Atlantic Association at Hotel Adlon Kempinski. Over the years, the “NATO Talk” conference has developed into one of the most important security conferences in Germany.
Since 2008, the “NATO Talk” conference has been able to welcome high-ranking guests every year, including NATO Secretaries General Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Jens Stoltenberg, Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, Vice Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Joschka Fischer and Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office Tobias Lindner.
Every year, the “NATO Talk” conference provides an opportunity to exchange on the latest developments in global security policy, with a special focus on transatlantic relations and the NATO Alliance. Together with experts from politics, diplomacy, the military, academia and civil society, we create a forum for dialogue and address current and often contentious foreign and security policy issues in order to promote debate on Europe's security and the future of the transatlantic partnership.
